Film Screening & Discussion: Freedom Riders
Start Date: 11/21/2013Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Date: 11/21/2013End Time: 12:45 PM

Event Description
Professor Robyn Spencer will lead a discussion on the film "Freedom Riders." A clip of the film is available at http://createdequal.neh.gov/films/freedom-riders.

This film is part of the “Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights” film series, screening, and discussion. We explore the Freedom Rides of 1961, a pivotal moment in the long Civil Rights struggle that redefined America. This documentary film offers an inside look at the brave band of activists who challenged segregation in the Deep South.

The Created Equal: American Civil Rights Struggle film series/screening and discussion is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Co-Sponsored by: Lehman College’s Leonard Lief Library, History Dept.,  Africa & African American Studies Dept., and the High School of American Studies.
