Event Description Professor Mary Philips, Dept. of African & African American Studies.This lecture reconsiders women's experiences during the Black Power era by focusing on how Ericka Huggins influenced and transformed evolving gender conventions in the Black Panther Party (BPP). The study validates Huggins as an intellectual whose thoughts and actions have been critical in broadening gender politics in the BPP and supporting a distinguishable and unique black feminist politics. |
