Event Description Continuing Education will host a free career information seminar for those interested in opportunities working as a Pharmacy Technician.
This 70-hour course will help prepare you to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. The course will review topics such as reading and interpreting prescriptions, defining drugs by generic and brand names, dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. You must attend the career seminar and pass the math assessment at orientation.
We are pleased to announce our Pharmacy Technician Program that combines classroom instruction with practical experience through externships in both an institutional as well as a retail setting. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the occupation of Pharmacy Technician is expected to grow 32 percent from 2010 to 2020. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will assist licensed pharmacists providing medication and other health care products to patients. The course is 600 hours in total: 220 hours classroom hours, 40 hours computer lab hours and includes an externship program totaling 340 hours in both retail and institutional environments. Pending approval, this is a great opportunity for veterans, Workforce One applications, and other voucher candidates.
Pharmacy Technician applicants must attend career seminar and take a math assessment.
Tuition includes textbooks, registration fee, certificate fee and materials.
