Event Description This is the first ever U.S. tour for the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba. The Orchestra is led by Music Director Enrique Pérez Mesa. Guido López-Gavilán will serve as guest conductor and Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera will perform a solo on piano. The Orchestra will perform works by George Gershwin, Cuban Overture George Gershwin, Rhapsody in Blue Ernesto Lecuona, La Comparsa Ludwig Van Beethoven, and Symphony No. 5. Since its inception in 1960, the Havana Symphony has been instrumental in developing and introducing Cuban and Latin American music to the international classical music community, in addition to covering a vast symphonic and chamber repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music.
