Lehman College will celebrate its graduating Class of 2021 with a virtual commencement ceremony that will be livestreamed at 10 a.m. EST on Thursday, May 27, on Lehman’s YouTube channel and website lehman.edu. Viewers can also watch the ceremony on BronxNet cable channels and BronxNet.tv.
The event will feature remarks by President Daniel Lemons, deans of the College’s five schools, student speaker Esther Asibuo-Ramos, and Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz, this year’s recipient of the Presidential Medal. The Class of 2021 will also hear congratulatory messages from commencement speaker Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the New York Senate majority leader and president pro tempore, and a Lehman alumna.
Lehman College is set to confer honorary degrees to Dolores Huerta, one of the most influential labor activists of the 20th century and a leader of the Chicano civil rights movement; TJ English, an American author, screenwriter, and journalist; and former New York congressman Eliot Engel, pending approval by the CUNY Board of Trustees on May 24.
The names of the more than 3,000 graduates of the Lehman College Class of 2021 will be displayed, along with additional congratulatory messages from faculty and staff. | |
