CONCERT - Faculty Recital: Molly Morkoski, piano

Faculty pianist Molly Morkoski will give a solo piano recital on Tuesday, October 3, at 2 p.m. For this program, Dr. Morkoski will present Beethoven's "Moonlight" Sonata in C-sharp Minor, Scriabin's mystic Poème Nocturne, Leonard Bernstein's Piano Sonata, Chopin's Ballade in F minor, and two modern works written especially for her: the premiere of "Undula" by British composer David Bruce, and "Bag of Tails (codas for solo piano)" dedicated to Molly and six other pianists by MacArthur Genius Award and Pulitzer Prize winning American composer John Harbison.

Lehman Woodwind Quintet: Winds of Change
The Lehman College Woodwind Quintet will give a free concert on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 2 pm, entitled “Winds of Change.” The performance, which will be held in the Music Building’s Recital Hall, is free and open to the public.

Directed by Lehman Music Professor and oboist Alan Hollander, the ensemble will perform works for flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn, and bassoon to usher in the change of winter to spring, including two standards of the repertoire: Jacques Ibert’s Trois Piecés Breves, and Paul Taffanel’s Quintet for Winds.

Also on the program will be Franz Thuille’s delightful Piano Quintette, featuring special guest pianist, Professor Peter Vinograde.

All are welcome, no tickets are required, and admission is free!

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Sergei Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company which would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company within the framework of Russian classic ballet.
