A Dialogue with the Honorable Judge Jo Celeste Pettway of Alabama

Event Description:
The Honorable Judge Jo Celeste Pettway of Alabama is the first Black female elected or appointed to the State Bench in Alabama by Governor George Wallace in 1984.  Twenty years earlier Governor Wallace blocked integration at the University of Alabama, which would later become Judge Pettway’s alma mater. Learn about Judge Pettway’s amazing journey from a descendant of slaves born into segregation in Alabama and who came of age during the Civil Rights era.
