Make Music Day - NY
All Day

The Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre and Dance Celebrates Make Music Day
Lehman College
participates in global celebration of music making on the longest day of the year

For the past dozen or so years, New York City has celebrated the solstice with a day of free, outdoor music, http://www.makemusicny.org/. Sadly, the Bronx has been historically underrepresented with few opportunities for Bronx residents to participate.

To celebrate Lehman’s 50th anniversary and help make our campus a cultural cornerstone in the borough, we will be participating as a host location for the day. Please join us for a day-long celebration of outdoor music, summer, and community on June 21. The day's performances will include current students, faculty, alumni and community artists.  10 AM to 8:45 PM at the Lehman College Amphitheater.

About Make Music Day:

Make Music Day is a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music and other musical events take place around the world on the longest day of the year. Musical festivities in New York City are part of a global celebration of music making in over 750 cities inspired by France’s te de la Musique held annually on June 21 and taking place in 800 cities across 120 countries. The daylong, musical free-for-all celebrates music in all its forms, encouraging people to band together and play in free public concerts. This year, more than 65 U.S. cities are organizing Make Music Day celebrations, encompassing thousands of concerts nationwide. Make Music Day is presented by the NAMM Foundation, and coordinated by the Make Music Alliance. For more information, please visit www.makemusicday.org.
