Poet Carlos Andres Gómez

Andrés Gómez is a Colombian American poet, speaker, actor, and author of Fractures, winner of the Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry, Hijito, winner of the Broken River Prize and a #1 SPD bestseller, and the memoir Man Up: Reimagining Modern Manhoodreleased by Penguin Random House. A star of HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, TV One’s Verses and Flow, and Spike Lee’s #1 box office movie Inside Man with Denzel Washington, Carlos is widely known for his viral poems, “Where are you really from?” and “What Latino Looks Like,” which have garnered millions of views online. Winner of the Atlanta Review International Poetry Prize and the Sandy Crimmins National Prize for Poetry, he partnered with John Legend on Senior Orientation, a program to counteract bullying and champion inclusive masculinity among high school students. Carlos is a proud Latinx and father.

“Celebrando el amor y la amistad a través de la poesía mexicana”
Este 14 de Febrero en las instalaciones de Lehman College, cuarto CA-B83 el Instituto de Estudios Mexicanos de CUNY presenta a la tallerista: Silvia Siller, profesora de español en Lehman College , poeta y escritora. 
El amor y la amistad, lejos de estar separados entre si, unen fuerzas para celebrarse a través de la poesía. Silvia Siller, imparte un taller para llevarnos de la mano a través de la poesía mexicana y darnos un recorrido entre letras a los confines de un sentimiento atemporal. Este taller, está dirigido al público en general interesado en conocer más de la poesía mexicana. Desmitificar la poesía como una tarea de la que solo se encargan los académicos, para descubrir la magia que genera y el poder de su belleza.

This February 14 at Lehman College CA-B83 The CUNY Mexican Studies Institute features Silvia Siller, Lehman College Spanish professor, Author and Poet.
Love and friendship join together to celebrate themselves throughout poetry. Silvia Siller takes us through a literary journey to Mexican poetry that invites us to enjoy this timeless sentiment. This workshop is aimed to any individual interested in Mexican poetry. Poetry is not only for the academic, come to discover its beautiful power and its magic.
