CUNY Consortium on Food and Housing Insecurity with Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab

Join us for the release of Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab's latest major study of food and housing insecurity at CUNY, followed by a discussion on introducing better policies and practices to address basic needs security across the University. 

This event is free and open to the public. 

11 am-12 pm CUNY staff and faculty discussions with Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab (Music Bldg., East Dining Rm.)
1-2 pm Keynote Presentation (Livestream); Carman Hall, Multimedia Center, C-36  (Limited seating available)

Dr. Goldrick-Rab is professor of Higher Education Policy and Sociology at Temple University, and the Founder of the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice in Philadelphia, as well as the Wisconsin HOPE Lab. She describes herself as a scholar-activist whose mission is to "identify novel approaches to making higher education the accessible and affordable place that families want and need it to be."

To this end, she has led more than a dozen experimental, longitudinal, and mixed-methods studies, examining the efficacy and distributional implications of financial aid policies, welfare reform, transfer practices, and a range of interventions aimed at increasing college attainment among marginalized populations.

Winter Session Visiting Student Walk-In Registration Day (Multi-Day Event)
All Day

Students interested in enrolling at Lehman College as Visiting Students for the Winter 2015 semester are encouraged to participate in our Walk-In Application/Registration days. This opportunity provides students with the ability to apply and register for courses during the Winter Intersession. Winter Session runs from 1/2 - 1/23.
Food Stamp Assistance
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Visit the Student Health Center for assistance in obtaining food stamps. Assistants will be available on alternate Tuesdays from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., starting September 2.
Transfer Coaching Tabling Session
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Location: Carman Cafeteria

The Transfer Coaching Program offers student outreach sessions, in the form of tabling, throughout the academic semesters in different locations around campus. During these sessions, students can sign-up to be on the mailing list for future workshops and events, ask questions about Lehman, and learn more about valuable student resources such as ePortfolio. Transfer and non-transfer students are welcome!
Fall GYN Hours
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The Student Health Center will provide GYN services on the following schedule during the Fall.
Beginning September 2:
Mondays 3-5 p.m.
Tuesdays 2-6 p.m.

Appointments need to be made in person since a validated ID and a $5 deposit are required.
Added Free HIV Testing Hours
4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Free HIV Testing will be available from 4-6pm at the Student Health Center, T-3, Room 118 on the following dates: November 4 & 25 and December 2 & 9. No appointment needed.
PSY 226 Review Session
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Location: Gillet Hall, Room 203

PSY 226 coach, Lisa Caraballo, will provide peer academic support by reviewing lecture material and answering students' questions. Ms. Caraballo works with PSY 226 faculty and students to improve study and test-taking skills as well as time management, goal-setting, communication, and resource development; equipping students with transferable skills necessary for academic success. No registration necessary.

Concert - "Holiday Fiesta" with the Lehman Latin Jazz Ensemble
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM

The Lehman Latin Jazz Ensemble will present “Holiday Fiesta” on Tuesday, December 9, at 4:30 p.m. in the Hearth Room, located on the third floor of the College’s Music Building. This exciting program will include the music of Tito Puente, Vince Guaraldi, Horace Silver, Tito Rodriguez, The Fania All-Stars, and others. Featured will be vocalists Felix Otero, Cindy Matamoros, and Nicole Vasquez.

Co-directed by Victor Rendon and Armando Rodriguez, the Lehman Latin Jazz Ensemble includes students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members.  This event is free and open to the community.
