CONCERT - "Holiday Pops" with the Lehman College and Community Band
The Lehman College & Community Band will celebrate the holiday season with “Holiday Pops,” a concert featuring a mix of holiday music and classics for wind band.

Led by Professor Alan Hollander of the Music Department, the ensemble will perform a wide range of works, including perennial holiday favorites Christmas Festival and Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, another sleigh ride, “Troika” from the Lieutenant Kije Suite by Prokofiev, and a medley of Hanukah tunes entitled Festive Sounds of Hanukah.

Also featured will be a slice of Americana: Shuffleton’s Barbershop by Hayato Hirose inspired by the eponymous Norman Rockwell painting, the timeless Greensleeves arranged by prolific American composer Alfred Reed, “The Nativity” from Norman Dello Joio’s Scenes from the Louvre, and Victor Herbert’s ever popular March of the Wooden Soldiers.

Rounding out the program will be a humorous medley by David Lovrien entitled Minor Alterations: Christmas Through the Looking Glass, a game of musical hide-and-seek for the audience, in which familiar Christmas carols are transposed from major to minor keys then disguised and layered to create something new and inventive.

The Passion of Antigona Perez
The Passion of Antígona Pérez by Luis Rafael Sanchez, Professor Emeritus University of Puerto Rico, and internationally recognized Latino playwright and activist. The production is directed by nationally recognized Latina theater artist Virginia Grise, and designed by a team of Latina theater artists including Lianne Arnold and Lucrecia Briceno. The Passion of Antígona Pérez is a contemporary Puerto Rican vision of Sophocles’ Antigone inspired by the life of Olga Viscal Garriga and her involvement with the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party. It is a play about activism and resistance of a people to an oppressive government that violates its civil rights

CONCERT - Lehman College & Community Chamber Orchestra: Voyage Through The Centuries
The Lehman College & Community Chamber Orchestra presents it's fall 2016 performance entitled "Voyage Through the Centuries." Directed by Professor Kyunghun Kim, the program will feature works from the Classical, Romantic, and Modern eras: Joseph Haydn's Symphony No. 100, Johann Strauss' ever-popular Blue Danube Waltz, and John Corigliano's Voyage for Flute and String Orchestra featuring Lehman Music major Adam Ray.
