Event Description: Grammy nominated percussionist Chembo Corniel will give a masterclass in the art and technique of conga drumming. Chembo is presently on the faculty at Purchase College, and has performed and recorded with a long list of noted artists, including Chucho Valdes, Larry Harlow, Tito Puente, Machito, Celia Cruz, Dave Valentin, Willie Colon, Ray Vega, and many others.
Since 2001 Chembo has lead his own Latin Jazz quintet, and in 2004 started his own record label, Chemboro Records, Inc. His five albums have all been well reviewed worldwide, and his 2010 endeavor, Things I Wanted To Do, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album. |
