Event Description:
The Irish Language Program of the Department of Languages and Literatures invites students of intermediate level to fluent speakers of the Irish language in the New York City area to participate in a symposium entitled “Ceol, Amhránaíocht, Sean-Nós agus Ceiliúradh ar Shaothar Mháirtín Uí Chadhain” which will take place Saturday, Feb. 22, in Room 330 of the Music Building on the campus of Lehman College.
Invited Lectures by Síle Denvir, Dónall Ó Braonáin and Micheál Ó Conghaile. Additionally, Papers by Students and Instructors as well as a Book Launch
The 5th biennial Irish language literature symposium focuses on the work of Máirtín Ó Cadhain at the 50th anniversary of his death and depictions of the music of Ireland in literature.
Although there will be no translation services available for the Irish language day on Saturday afternoon, our guest speakers will additionally give pre- and post-symposium lectures in English on Friday, Feb. 21 and Monday, Feb. 24
at the CUNY Graduate Center on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. These two events are free and open to the public.
Photo ID is required for entrance to the CUNY Graduate Center.
