Open Auditions for Rumplestiltskin
Dr. Penny Prince of the Music Department will hold open auditions for her collaborative musical "Rumpelstiltskin" on Thursday, December 13, 4-8 pm and Tuesday, December 18, 6:15-8:15 pm in Room 306 of the Music Building. auditions are by appointment only. Call 718-960-7796 or email penny.prince@lehman.cuny.edu to schedule your appointment. 

Auditions are open to students, alumni, and community members, ages 16 and up. Participants MUST attend weekly rehearsals on Thursday evenings from Jan. 17 through the performances in mid-May. Performances are Tuesday evening, May 7; Thursday morning and evening, May 9; Friday morning, May 10; and Saturday morning and afternoon, May 11 2019. Performers shall prepare a song (a capella) and a monologue for the audition. Artists and Stage Crew shall prepare a sample of their art work or a resume.

Untold: A Devised Multimedia Performance Showcase
Untold is a devised performance directed by Amy Larimer and created in collaboration with the students.  The performers draw on their own stories inspired by the theme of the body in American culture.   These stories are then woven together to create an evening-length piece which combines text and movement. The live performance is complemented by student-generated videos which are posted on Instagram @dncthe425.

CONCERT - Que Pique el Invierno: Let the Winter be HOT!
The Lehman College and Community Latin Jazz Ensemble will celebrate the holiday season with a cabaret-concert program called “Que Pique el Invierno: Let the Winter be HOT!” along with a dance workshop on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16 in the Music Building on campus. Admission is free; donations are welcome.
“Que Pique el Invierno: Let the Winter be HOT!” will begin at 2 p.m. with Lehman Professor Martin Muntzel leading a mambo dance workshop that is open to all. Afterwards, the Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform an uptempo program that will include well-known compositions by Ray Barretto, George Harrison, Otis Redding, and others.

The Lehman College and Community Latin Jazz Ensemble, comprised of students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members, is co-directed by veteran Latin jazz musicians Victor Rendón and Armando Rodríguez, both adjunct faculty members at Lehman College. Among the featured performers will be vocalists Felix Otero, José González, Dena Robins, and Lehman music student Kevin I. Alvelo, along with student trumpet soloist Jesus Morel.

Refreshments will be available at the event, with sales benefitting Lehman L.I.F.E. scholarships.
And the dance floor will be open—come join the celebration!

MASTERCLASS - Traditional Conga Technique
The Lehman Music Program presents an open masterclass:

Traditional Techniques in Conga Drumming with
legendary conguero Eddie Montalvo.

Eddie is a Bronx native who has recorded and performed with Fania All Stars, Celia Cruz, Willie Colon, Johnny Pacheco, Ruben Blades, and many others. Come join us for this hands-on workshop!
