12:00 PM Turnbull Lecture Series - Spring 2023


Join us Fridays at noon for the latest Turnbull series that examines queer and binary representation within the world of art and design, as well as its audiences. The series coincides with and is conceptually aligned with Lehman College Art Gallery’s spring 2023 exhibition, Queer Love: Affection and Romance in Contemporary Art. 

Moderated by David Schwittek, associate professor of Digital Media and Graphic Design in the Art Department of Lehman College.

1:30 PM - 2:00 PM MAMBO Dance Workshop

The Lehman College and Community Latin Jazz Ensemble kicks off the holiday season on Sunday, December 10, with “Descarga en Diciembre: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!” a cabaret/concert and Mambo dance workshop, in the Hearth Room, on the 3rd floor of the Music Building. There is no charge for admission, but all donations are gratefully accepted.

First, at 1:30 p.m. Lehman Professor Martin Muntzel will lead a Mambo dance workshop, open to all interested parties. Then at 2:00 p.m., the Latin Jazz Ensemble will perform an exciting program including the music of Pérez Prado, Tito Rodríguez, George Gershwin, and others, including a special tribute to Puerto Rico entitled “Preciosa” by Rafael Hernández.

Featured will be vocalists Felix Otero, José González, Aura Navarro, and Dena Robins. Co-directed by Victor Rendón and Armando Rodríguez, the Lehman College and Community Latin Jazz Ensemble includes students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members.

Refreshments will be available, benefiting Lehman L.I.F.E. scholarships, and the dance floor will be open. All are invited to join the celebration!
