Professor Victor V. Bobetsky of Hunter College will discuss his book, We Shall Overcome: Essays on a Great American Song, and provide an overview of the song’s origins and history. He will be joined by several students, to perform excerpts from various antecedent hymns and songs which influenced its development into the song we know today.
