World Music Concert - Radio Jarocho
Radio Jarocho performs son jarocho - the rowdy, upbeat, and at times melancholic music of the countryside of Veracruz, Mexico. A mix of Spanish, West African, and Indigenous musics, son jarocho is customarily played in the fandango, a community celebration where people gather to play, sing, and dance. Radio Jarocho has pioneered the promotion and preservation of son jarocho and the fandango on the East Coast, creating a modern sound that captures the spirit of the traditional style.
