"Mothers' Education and Children's Outcomes: Does Being A First-Generation College-Goer Matter?"
Summary: Past research in the sociology of education has treated parents' educational attainment as uniform by level, so that parents who were first-generation college goers are considered equivalent to college-educated parents whose own parents also attended college. In this quantitative study, I compare mothers who were the first in their families to attend college to mothers whose families had a tradition of college-going. |
