gorno a.k.a. glenn potter-takata is an artist-person from Los Angeles, based in The Bronx. Glenn is a maker of performance and video art, which is sometimes about the Japanese-American experience and sometimes about other things. He studied print-making, then oil painting, then theatre, then dance, then crazy synth sounds, then sculpture, and is an ongoing student of butoh and anti-modernist thought patterns. gorno’s work examines, imagines, and distorts perceived value systems, placing them into existing structures of ritual and performance. This has manifested as Sailor Moon cult parties, pizza deity religious rites, and ritualized chanting to Antonin Artaud. His credits include presentations by Gibney, Movement Research, HERE Arts, Dixon Place, as well as performances at Links Hall, Howl! Arts, Long Beach Opera, National Puppetry Festival, and Redmoon, where he was rehearsal director and a teaching artist. MFA, Sarah Lawrence College. What’s a gorno? Idk you tell me I read it on a pizza box.
