The talk explores the use of personal narrative as a means of making political change in both Taiwan and the United States, the use of rituals, and legal protections for LGBT couples and families, and the creation of families using surrogacy and adoption.  It also centers on making change in families through the coming out process for both LGBT-identified persons and for heterosexual and traditionally gendered family members of multiple generations.
