Baroque art flourished in 17th century Seville during a tumultuous period of economic decline, social conflict, and natural disasters.

This volume explores the patronage that fueled a frenzy of religious, artistic, and architectural activity - and the lasting effect it had on the city and its people.

Wunder shares a compelling examination of the complex visual world of 17th century Seville and the artistic collaboration that involved all levels of society in supporting its revitalization.
