Event Description:
Baroque art flourished in 17th
century Seville during a tumultuous period of economic decline, social
conflict, and natural disasters.
This volume explores the patronage
that fueled a frenzy of religious, artistic, and architectural activity - and
the lasting effect it had on the city and its people.
Wunder shares a compelling examination
of the complex visual world of 17th century Seville and the artistic
collaboration that involved all levels of society in supporting its
revitalization.
Amanda Wunder is Associate Professor of History at Lehman College.
