2023 Commencement Ceremony


We’re pleased to announce that Lehman College’s 2023 Commencement ceremony will be held in person on campus on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. 

We look forward to celebrating the hard work of the Class of ’23 this spring! If your Degree was awarded in Fall '22, Winter '23, Spring '23 or Summer '23, you are eligible to participate in the June 1st ceremony.

Latinx Alliance Showcase Closing Event with Special Guest Alumni Dr. Hector Velez.
10/15 (TUESDAY 4-6:30 p.m.) - Latinx Alliance Showcase Closing Event with Special Guest Alumni Dr. Hector Velez.
Where: East Dining Room 

The "Showcase" closing event is meant to bring together the Latinx Student Alliance with the general student body of Lehman. This will be accompanied by the performances of various students from all different majors that will showcase their talents and pride for their culture(s). There will also be a guest Alumni speaker that will be presented with an award on behalf of the Latinx Student Alliance and their advisor. There will also be live music for dancing afterwards. 

Dr. Hector Velez, an alumni of Lehman College, received his PhD from Cornell University in 1983. In addition to his role a tenured Associate professor at Ithaca College (now retired), he has been an adjunct member at Cornell University since 1977 in the Department of Sociology. He has worked as a consultant to the Dominican Republic, has traveled to Cuba, investigating the effects of "Radio Marti," and was an official observer in the Paraguayan elections in 1994. He is one of the founding members of the Latino Studies Program at Cornell and has served as Acting Director of the program. In addition, he is a Visiting Associate Professor of Hispanic American Studies.
