Film Discussion & Screening: Slavery by Another Name
Start Date: 11/5/2013Start Time: 6:30 PM
End Date: 11/5/2013End Time: 8:00 PM

Event Description
Professor Mark Christian will lead a discussion on the film "Slavery by Another Name." See a clip of it at http://createdequal.neh.gov/films/slavery-another-name

This film is part of the “Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights” film series, screening, and discussion. We see how even as slavery ended in the south after the Civil War, new forms of forced labor kept thousands of African Americans in bondage until the onset of World War II.

The Created Equal: American Civil Rights Struggle film series/screening and discussion is made possible by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Co-Sponsored by: Lehman College’s Leonard Lief Library, History Dept.,  Africa & African American Studies Dept., and the High School of American Studies.
