Event Description The Lehman College Community Band will give its first performance of the new year with “Spring Shamrocks,” a free concert featuring both classic and modern works for wind band.
Led by Professor Alan Hollander, the band will perform classic works for wind band including the dramatic “Mars” from Gustav Holst’s The Planets, a tone poem by Haydn Wood inspired by the Isle of Man entitled Mannin Veen, and Alexander Scriabin’s serene Nocturne.
The concert will also feature Walter Barrett performing a new arrangement of Concerto for Bass Tuba by Ralph Vaughan Williams, as well as Darius Milhaud’s 5-part Suite Francaise, inspired by the various different regions of the French countryside.
Rounding out the program will be Frank Cofield’s Irish Salute, a medley of Irish folk tune favorites, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. |
